Alavikunhu Panthakkan (Senior Member, IEEE) is an active research scientist in Artificial Intelligence and an Associate Professor at the University of Dubai, where he also serves as Research Supervisor at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre Laboratory. He is additionally a member of the University of Dubai C-SAR, contributing to pioneering cutting-edge research and technological advancements aimed at laying the foundational groundwork for a secure and resilient digital landscape for the future hyper-connected society.
He holds strong academic credentials, including a university rank and a gold medal in M.Tech in Digital Electronics Engineering. His research interests span machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and large language models, with applications in remote sensing, biomedical imaging, computer vision, and AI-based image and signal processing. He has developed pioneering algorithms and models in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, particularly for medical imaging and remote sensing. His current research also extends to quantum cryptography and quantum-enhanced machine learning-based applications, reflecting his commitment to advancing next-generation intelligent and secure technologies.
Dr. Panthakkan has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and conference proceedings and has led a funded research project. He is also the author of the printed book Robust and Fragile Watermarking Techniques, published by LAMBERT Academic Publishing. An experienced academician, Dr. Panthakkan has a proven track record in mentoring, teaching, and curriculum design. He also serves on program committees for various conferences in computer vision and machine learning.
